Masonry built for the freeze-thaw cycle
Around here, masonry fails from water and frost, not from weight. Steps, walkways, walls and repointing get built and repaired with that in mind.

No loose ends handed off to you. The scope below is what yourmasonry project includes from start to finish.
Base prep, pitch and drainage are what keep a walkway or step from heaving after the first hard winter.
Repointing with the wrong mix damages older brick. We match the mortar to the masonry rather than defaulting to the hardest bag on the shelf.
Front steps and walkways are the entrance to the house. Fixing them changes the look of a property as much as a repaint does.
We look at the joints, the base and the movement, and work out whether it's a repair or a rebuild.
Deteriorated joints are cut out, or the area is excavated and the base compacted for new work.
Brick, block or stone is set to line and level, with mortar suited to the existing masonry.
The work is left to cure properly, the site is cleared of debris, and we walk the finished job with you.
It depends on whether the structure underneath is still sound. If it is, repointing and rebuilding the face can be enough. If it's moving, patching it is money spent twice — we'll tell you which one you're looking at.
Masonry is available across Greater Boston and the communities north of the city. See the full list of towns we serve.
